Safe Tree Planting
Safe Tree Planting
If someone you know wants to plant a tree, we’ve provided a helpful checklist to help make sure it will grow a safe distance from power lines. You can print out the checklist and write in the lines provided.
Where do you want to plant a tree?____________________________
What specific tree do you want to plant?________________________
How tall will the tree be when it is full grown?_____feet tall. How wide will it's branches stretch?_____feet wide. (Call a nursery if you are not sure.)
Will the tree come within 10 feet of high-voltage power lines when it is fully grown?_____ If yes, consider a smaller tree or a different spot. Trees close to power lines are dangerous!
Before planting your tree, call the utility locator service or "one-call" number to make sure you won't contact underground power lines or other buried utilities when you dig.
