Letters from Students
Through dedicated volunteers with the Safety City program, students have learned about electrical safety. Below are examples of what students have said of their experience at the Homework Centers:
School: Hendersonville Elementary, Walterboro, SC Class: Mrs. Quinn’s 4th Grade Class Presenter/Employee: Aaron Mixon
Dear Mr. Mixon,
Thank you for coming to our school. We liked you a lot and now we want you to come back and tell us more about electricity, because you are a good man. You know all about electricity. I want you to come back and have another program. Ok? I learned lots of things too! And I know that electricity is very dangerous. If you climb up a tree and it’s wet and by a power line and if the tree hit the power line it can electricity you. And it might kill you too.

School: Dunston Elementary, North Charleston, SC Class: Ms. Brosey’s 4th Grade Class Presenter/Employee: Steven Hughes and Jin Kim
Dear Mr. Hughes and Mr. Kim,
Thanks so much for coming from SCE&G! I leard that you should not ever touch a power line. I even learned that electricity can be your friend. But, it can be very shocking. I learned that I should never climb a tree by a power line. I will never play a game by a green thing on the ground. I learned what to do when a power line is on the ground. I learned what to do when a power line is on the top of a car. When I grow up, I want to work at SCE&G!
-D.
School: Dutch Fork Elementary, Irmo, SC Class: Mrs. Jeter’s 4th Grade Class Presenter/Employee: Joe McCaskill
Dear Mr. McCaskill,
Thank you for coming to Dutch Fork Elementary. You were fantastic. I would have never guessed if your car was touching a wire and you car was on fire you would need to jump out on both feet together and don’t touch the car. You told me that and so if that ever happens you just saved my life. I’m going to tell my family because I don’t think they know.
-R.
